With an official population of only 41, this tidal island in Normandy one kilometre off of the northern coast of France is a magical place formed by the skilled craftsmanship of nature. The Italian architect, William de Volpiano, designed the Romanesque church at the top of the island in the 11th century long after it was first used as a stronghold of Romano-Breton culture during the 7th century. This island, a network of Gothic architecture, tunnels and chapels is one of my dream destinations. It has a story to tell and opens the eyes of thousands of tourists every year...

Dramatic Kids: Little Director
"A three-year-old child is a being who gets almost as much fun out of a fifty-six dollar set of swings as it does out of finding a small green worm."

The Designer and the Tramp
John Galliano is the epitome of drama, theatrics, fantasy and intrigue. He never opts for the ordinary and, with his designs, creates a world where every dreamer could thrive. His Spring 2011 collection once again proves his mastery of the strange. This Charlie Chaplin inspired collection brings together two of my favourite things: unique fashion and the celebration of the dramatic.
"I had no idea of the character. But the moment I was dressed, the clothes and the make-up made me feel the person he was. I began to know him, and by the time I walked onto the stage he was fully born." - Charlie Chaplin

Today I Want to be a... Sailor!
I draw inspiration out of alomost everything, whether it be the creativity of design, the drama of acting or even the freedom of flying, so when I took these photos of these beautiful ships at Cape Town harbor, I couldn't help but dream of sailing around the world with the sea as my best friend and the stars as my guide. So today I want to be a sailor, tomorrow it will probably be something completely different...

First Blue Monday

Blue, but you are Rose, too, and buttermilk, but with blood dots showing through. A little salty your white nape boy-wide. Glinting hairs shoot back of your ears' Rose that tongues like to feel the maze of, slip into the funnel, tell a thunder-whisper to. When I kiss, your eyes' straight lashes down crisp go like doll's blond straws. Glazed iris Roses, your lids unclose to Blue-ringed targets, their dark sheen-spokes almost green. I sink in Blue- black Rose-heart holes until you blink. Pink lips, the serrate folds taste smooth, and Rosehip- round, the center bud I suck. I milknip your two Blue-skeined blown Rose beauties, too, to sniff their berries' blood, up stiff pink tips. You're white in patches, only mostly Rose, buckskin and saltly, speckled like a sky. I love your spots, your white neck, Rose, your hair's wild straw splash, silk spools for your ears. But where white spouts out, spills on your brow to clear eyepools, wheel shafts of light, Rose, you are Blue.

Far Away in the Sunshine
"Far away in the sunshine are my highest aspirations. I may not reach them, but I can look up and see their beauty, believe in them, and try to follow where they lead."

Welcome to 2011!
Ring out the old, ring in the new,
Ring, happy bells, across the snow:
The year is going, let him go;
Ring out the false, ring in the true.
Ring, happy bells, across the snow:
The year is going, let him go;
Ring out the false, ring in the true.
"The Old Year has gone. Let the dead past bury its own dead. The New Year has taken possession of the clock of time. All hail the duties and possibilities of the coming twelve months!"
~Edward Payson Powell
