We don't Receive Wisdom
“We don’t receive wisdom, we must discover it for ourselves after a journey that none can take for us or spare us.”

Today I want to Be... A Circus Perfomer
I must admit there has been more than a few times in my life where I have felt like running away and joining a circus. I can truly see myself fitting right in with the madness, the hard work and the eccentricity of the circus life.
The ideal circus job for me?
Animal handler? Love animal, don't know how to handle them.
Juggler? You need good hand-eye coordination for that, right?
Tight rope walker? We're gonna need a bigger net!
Clown? When you have as many brothers as I do, you do that anyway.
No, I'd be an acrobat (believe it or not, I have some experience), because that is where one finds the perfect balance between freedom and immense skill - you do "the impossible"; you create magic with the only instrument we're all blessed with.

The Tourist
I finally got the see The Tourist last night and fell in love with everything: the performances, the incredible locations (Paris and Venice, of course), the script with its sharp twists and unexpected turns, even the wardrobe (Colleen Atwood worked her magic once again, creating a 50's inspired look). Angelina Jolie plays Elise, an epitome of elegance who makes every man's head turn shamelessly and Johnny Depp portrays Frank, a supposed Math teacher on holiday in Europe who gets caught up in the world of agents, guns and stolen millions. It's an action adventure, it's a romance, it's a comedy, it's pure fun! Hats off to director and writer Florian Henckel van Donnersmarck.
I'm crazy about this dress! (Colleen Atwood, you are a genius!)

Where I Want to be Today: Mont Saint-Michel
With an official population of only 41, this tidal island in Normandy one kilometre off of the northern coast of France is a magical place formed by the skilled craftsmanship of nature. The Italian architect, William de Volpiano, designed the Romanesque church at the top of the island in the 11th century long after it was first used as a stronghold of Romano-Breton culture during the 7th century. This island, a network of Gothic architecture, tunnels and chapels is one of my dream destinations. It has a story to tell and opens the eyes of thousands of tourists every year...

Today I Want to be a... Sailor!
I draw inspiration out of alomost everything, whether it be the creativity of design, the drama of acting or even the freedom of flying, so when I took these photos of these beautiful ships at Cape Town harbor, I couldn't help but dream of sailing around the world with the sea as my best friend and the stars as my guide. So today I want to be a sailor, tomorrow it will probably be something completely different...

Welcome to 2011!
Ring out the old, ring in the new,
Ring, happy bells, across the snow:
The year is going, let him go;
Ring out the false, ring in the true.
Ring, happy bells, across the snow:
The year is going, let him go;
Ring out the false, ring in the true.
"The Old Year has gone. Let the dead past bury its own dead. The New Year has taken possession of the clock of time. All hail the duties and possibilities of the coming twelve months!"

Happy Anniversary...
30 Years...
...is how long my parents have been married today, 17 December 2010.
My mom had just turned 20 and my dad was a mere 21 when they exchanged vows in 1980 and 30 years, countless ups and downs and four children later, they still have the world to talk about, cannot imagine life without one another and still look into each other's eyes with utter devotion.
To those of you who do not believe in fairy tale love, these two people are proof of its existence...
Some pictures of their three decades together...

Ghost Bakery
You find this little, abandoned bakery or "Backerei" in the ghost town, Luderitz, in Namibia. However, instead of freshly baked bread and cakes, it is filled to the brim with desert sand and you never know if the baker will make himself visible when you visit...
