Le Acteur Americaine, Bradley Cooper, Parle Francais!

Especially for a girl like me, trying to learn the most beautiful language in the world (French, if you didn't guess) in a country where no one speaks it, this video of Bradley Cooper doing an interview in fluent French on TF1 is truly inspiring.

He was lucky enough to be able to go to Provence to learn, which I dream of doing someday!

Language forces us to perceive the world as man presents it to us.

  2. Oui ! Nice-looking guy would inspire a girl, but don't be fooled by his good looks and his local-style accent. He is an actor ! As a French language teacher myself, I wanted to learn what the fuss among my students was all about, so I watched the video. Although he makes a good effort for being under pressure of the media, his grammar is horrible and he makes quite a few faux pas. Nonetheless, again, I agree, cute guy, charming, good effort at the accent, and I'm sure his movie will be a great success. However, in order to really impress francophones, he must brush up on his grammar, and not offend interviewers by using "tu" ! On dirait qu'il parle comme une vache espagnol :-)

  3. Hi "Anonymous". Thank you so much for your comment. It's great to hear an honest opinion from a fluent French speaker and yes, I do agree with you in the sense that he makes mistakes the everyday person won't pick up and that his reputation has a lot to do with how people perceive this interview. I just think it's refreshing to see someone like him try to communicate with someone in their home language instead of (like most other actors and English speakers would do) speaking as if they were at home, which they are not. As someone who is trying to learn this beautiful language, I appreciate hearing from you! Merci beaucoup!
