Where I Want to be Today: A Field of Sunflowers

It freezing in Johannesburg, so I want to be somewhere sunny, warm and happy, like a field of sunflowers:

"Bring me then the plant that points to those bright Lucidites swirling up from the earth, And life itslef exhaling that central breath! Bring me the sunflower crazed with the love of light!"

Musical Magic: Find Love by NLX

I heard this song on the Brothers and Sisters episode Righteous Kiss the other night and fell in love with it. Ironically, it is called Find Love and is performed by spectacular band, NLX. It is from their album, Bitch Get Fit.

The song is just purely inspirational and I especially adore the piano sequences (it reminds of of the type of melodies I like to compose.)

A Poem on the Underground

The last train is nearly due,
The underground is closing soon,
And in the dark deserted station,
Restless in anticipation,
A man waits in the shadows.

His restless eyes leap and scratch,
At all that they can touch or catch,
And hidden deep within his pocket,
Safe within it's silent socket,
He holds a colored crayon.

Now from the tunnel's stony womb,
The carriage rides to meet the groom,
And opens wide and welcome doors,
But he hesitates, then withdraws
Deeper in the shadows.

And the train is gone suddenly
On wheels clicking silently
Like a gently tapping litany,
And he holds his crayon rosary
Tighter in his hand.

Now from his pocket quick he flashes,
The crayon on the wall he slashes,
Deep upon the advertising,
A single worded poem comprised
Of four letters.

And his heart is laughing, screaming, pounding
The poem across the tracks rebounding
Shadowed by the exit light
His legs take their ascending flight
To seek the breast of darkness and be suckled by the night.

Enjoy your Easter!

Tomb, thou shalt not hold Him longer;
Death is strong, but Life is stronger;
Stronger than the dark, the light;
Stronger than the wrong, the right...

Where I want to be Today: An Incredible Library

I feel like reading a really great book today, but I wish I could be doing just that in one of these places. These make you crave knowledge, they make you want to disappear into fairy tales and make you want to learn about new places or cultures. If the libraries I went to were as beautiful as these, I would never be at home...

Admont Abbey Library, Austria

Canadian Library of Parliament

George Peabody Library, Baltimore, Maryland

Iowa State Capital Law Library

Mitchell Library, Sydney

National Library of Finland, Helsinki

Strahov Theological Hall, Prague

Thomas Fisher Rare Book Library, University of Toronto

Yale Rare Book Library

"We may sit in our library and yet be in all quarters of the earth."

Ominous Skies

The clouds are becoming creepier everyday, but make for some cool photos. Do they predict a coming Armageddon? Does it mean an evil force has been born? You can make up your own ghost story while admiring the eerie beauty...

Some Fun Polaroids

Making polaroids out of random photos is like a bug that bites you and you can't get enough. It just creates this vintage, artistic feel which I love...

Happy Friday!

"The rhythm of the weekend, with its birth, its planned gaieties, and its announced end, followed the rhythm of life and was a substitute for it."

The Soft Toy Car

Aah! To be 3 years old and already quite strange...

It is interesting how light and darkness can make something as simple as a boy in front of a mirror look so incredibly eerie and mysterious...

Happy April Fools Day!

If you don't have any ideas, try these:
If your milk comes in a cardboard container, add a few drops of food coloring. It's harmless April Fool's joke but the results are pretty colorful.

This April Fool's practical joke is old but it still works. Superglue some coins to the sidewalk or any spot that has a lot of people walking around. Make sure it's an appropriate place, then watch people break fingernails to get the coins.
